I combine nature with different painting techniques. Using petals, leaves and grasses mixed with colour on hand-made paper and canvas, I have developed my work onto deep-edge canvas for the home.
Painting the background in layers of soothing and metallic colours, I layer hand-made papers and other decorative papers over to leave some painted areas exposed. I then create designs over the top using metallic and skeleton leaves or natural plant material.

I am an illustrator with a huge interest in folk art and the role of images in people's everyday lives. I set up lemonmerchant to explore ways in which illustration could be placed in a domestic setting.
Lemonmerchant produces decorative objects from my own designs but we also look at ways to collaborate with other artists. At the moment I am making ceramic tiles with photographic and drawn imagery, but I also make books, zines, posters, boxes, fabrics, and lamps.
I also write about illustration for magazines and have an illustration blog. http://illustrationnwsad.wordpress.com/

I am a freelance photographer specialising in architectural, commercial and fine art photography. My work as an architectural photographer influences all my work in which I look for abstract lines, textures and strong composition.
Taking my artwork one step further I have developed a process, which gives my images an almost painterly feel. I also like to document my travelling experiences, encompassing the vivid colours and differing cultures I have experienced.

I started making my 'Felt Hemmed In' crafts not long after my son was born. I decided not to return to work full time as an Art Director for the Liverpool based TV show, 'Hollyoaks'. However, during this time it was important for me to keep creative (mostly for my own sanity!)
I loved the cheery, childlike quality of felt and began making simple pincushions as and when I could. I started selling my cacti pin cushions, 'Sew your own' about 3 years ago at Craft Markets in the Liverpool area, along with my mother's hand knitted items.
More recently I have been experimenting with reclaimed felted knit wear. From jumpers and other garments I have started to make baby slippers.

I think my work reflects the time-honored practice of taking common, ordinary images and objects and placing them in an artistic context, but with a little twist: I select images or things that are or were at home in ordinary human life but have some extra significance, which is carried over into their artistic incarnation. My art is based on observations of life using a variety of subjects to record events, situations and ideas which have inspired me, or given cause for amusement.
My work begins from drawings and collections in sketchbooks. Images are created and reworked using paint, pen and ink, computer and printmaking techniques. These images are then transferred to a computer by photography or scanner and reproduced as an archival print, at times hand finished with paint or pen and ink.

My painting and drawing looks toward the presence of man within an urban and suburban environment, without necessarilly being direct in figurative terms.
My photography like my painting is usually abstract and again uses the urban enviroment as its source.

I originally trained as a Graphic Designer and have taught Art and Design for 25 years. I have developed my visual arts skills through a variety of media and techniques with an emphasis on textile based art.
Recent work in felt has been inspired by organic forms in the natural world with an emphasis on coastal and woodland areas. All my work is hand felted and embellished through a variety of stitching, both hand and machined. Beading is used to further develop the tactile qualities of the work.
